5 Simple Tips to Lose Weight Fast!

Small changes can make a big difference. Here are 5 simple and easy tips for losing weight:

  1. Eat an apple before dinner. According to a recent Penn State study, people that consumed an apple before their meals ate 187 fewer calories than those that did not. High fiber foods, like apples, are digested slowly by the body and make you feel fuller. Fill up on apples and not on Applebee’s!
  2. Drink lots of water. You’ll cut a zillion calories by not drinking soda or sugary drinks – and, it’s filling! If you’re still craving more after a healthy snack, drink up!
  3. Use BBQ sauce instead of mayo. Using BBQ sauce instead of mayonnaise on your burger will save you 146 calories per two tablespoons.
  4. Know how many calories you should be eating. You need a calorie deficit in order to lose weight. In other words, you need to take in fewer calories than you burn. But in order to create that deficit, you first need to know how many calories your body requires. Use the Harris Benedict Calculator to find out.
  5. Counteract the “rainy day” principle. If you create a calorie deficit by decreasing your eating and don’t increase your physical activity, your body will go into starvation mode. This is why so many people have trouble losing weight. When your body thinks that it is starving, it will hold onto everything that you put into it. Your metabolism will go to crap, and it will save all your calories instead of burning them. To counteract this principle, exercise! You need to move, move, move – even if it’s just 2 or 3 days a week for 30 or 45 minutes.

    1. dont eat when youre bored.. and know the difference between genuine hunger and boredom…. watching tv with all its slick adverts for fast food and soda n beer n chips n such will make you think youre hungry… youre not… youre bored…

    2. dont food shop when you are hungry… this leads to buying all sorts of impulse items like snack cakes, soda, chips, candy hot pockets… eat a healthy snack, drink some water and move around a bit before you hit the grocery store… take a list of healthy food that you need and stick to it…

    Don’t try to lose weight fast… you’ll just rebound. Try increasing your activity and eating as close as possible to the number of calories a day you need, cutting back to 1200 calories a day for a six foot male is not sustainable, and usually leads to binging.

  3. I really love your stuff, Davey! I also think it’s important to remember that you have to choose to eat less and exercise more FOR YOURSELF — not for anyone else! When I start to believe I’m worth the effort, it becomes easier and more fun to take care of myself. Living to please others is so exhausting and causes you to feel even worse than you already did.     What about diet sodas? Good or just as bad?

    • While diet soda has no calories/sugar the fake ingredients in it can reak havoc on your body. diet soda is terrible for your liver. your actually better off drinking regular soda.

    • expanding on what jess (correctly) said, the artificial sugars that are found in diet sodas (most often aspartame) are TERRIBLE for heart health. ON TOP OF THAT, when you switch from (POR EJEMPLO) pepsi to diet pepsi, your body is still used to the actual sugar in pepsi so when you ingest the fake sugar in diet pepsi, your body is all, “…what is this? i don’t know what this is…STORE!!!” then since you’re not using the fake sugar, you (fairly slowly, but still) actually start to gain weight. jess is right; you’re better off with regular soda. 🙂

  6. I’ve never had a weight problem, so I’m not one to give advice on losing weight…or maybe I am the perfect guy to give advice. Regardless, I know that when I go on vacation I do gain a couple pounds, even when my vacation includes a lot of physical activties. The only explanation then is that it is hard to monitor calorie intake when you eat out at resturants. So my advice is that we limit the number of times per week that we eat a meal that we didn’t prepare ourselves.

    Now that I’m thinking about it, I heard somewhere that people who get 8 hours of sleep per night tend to have lower body weights. This may not be a cause-effect relationship though, but the importantance of sleep cannot be understated. So rest up!

  8. I really like using various iPhone (or other smartphone) apps to count calories/keep track of eating. It does a lot of the work for you in knowing how much you should be eating in order to be losing weight, and factors in exercise, etc. I’ve been using DailyBurn, and I know others have liked Lose It and lots of other programs.

  9. 1. Dont eat when boerd, eat when your hungry, and then before you eat look at the food and think is this really healthy,
    2. dont eat alot the nothing and the alot, once evry 3-4 ouers.
    5. theres alot of healthy shakes that can make you just a full as a meal.
    6. if you have money a personal trainer vil make you lose weigt a lot faster. but you dont always need that. a chair can be all you need.
    7. dont go over kill, take it slow, and really feel the burn. If you go over kill you might bounce right back. well, that how i do it
