Yoga and Gay Sex: What You’re Missing.

This position may give you a few, um, ideas.

When you think of yoga in the western world, you probably conjure up images of middle-aged housewives wearing Lululemon spandex. There is probably some truth to that stereotype, but more and more people are discovering the benefits of yoga. Including gay men.

The first time that I really tried yoga was senior year at university; I took a course on the subject. I was surprised by the class, and the amazing benefits that I was enjoying. And yes, some of the benefits were enjoyed between the sheets, such as:

  • Improved endurance. Yoga increases your lung capacity, which, in turn, improves performance and endurance in sports and sex alike. You can push yourself harder, faster and longer. As Martha Stewart would say, “it’s a good thing.”
  • Increased flexibility. Being able to tie your feet in a knot behind your head just may change your sex life forever. In all seriousness, an increased range of motion opens up sex to a wide range of possibilities. The impossible becomes possible, and the number of positions are limited only by one’s imagination. Headstands, binds and splits all make for some interesting options.
  • Better circulation. Yoga helps get – and keep – your blood flowing around your body and, in particular, to your pelvic region. It promotes healthier skin and organs, your penis included. It may not be Viagra, but it is natural and without the side effects.
  • Yoga boosts your energy. Like exercise in general, yoga helps keep your energy levels up. It’s better than a cup of coffee – so no more “I’m too tired” excuses.
  • Improved self-image. Yoga can make you feel a lot better about yourself. Confidence is sexy – other people will take notice.
  • Be more sensual. Yoga promotes a deeper awareness of one’s body and the sensations that it produces – including the really wonderful ones experienced during sex. Deliciousness.

Of course, yoga’s benefits go beyond the bedroom. You’ll also enjoy better posture, more controlled weight, inner peace (hopefully!) and improved concentration to name a few.

So, sign up for a beginner level class. Don’t be intimidated, even if there aren’t any other men in the class. Or download my Underwear Yoga program and try it at home. Use promo code “sex” during checkout (before Sept. 5) to save $10 off the purchase price – and if you’re not happy in 30 days, return it without a question asked.

Anyway, maybe those Lululemon-wearing middle aged housewives are onto something. Maybe it’s time for you to give yoga a try.

Have you ever taken yoga? Did you enjoy the class, and why do you think so many men are afraid to try it? Let me know in the comments below.

  1. i havent had a chance to try yoga yet, but hopefully soon.
and i think men are more timid to try yoga because like you said, we “conjure up images of middle-aged housewives wearing Lululemon spandex” and therefore it might just be seen as a woman activity.

  2. It’s Martha Stewart.. not Steward

  3. I’m signed up for a beginners yoga class in a week to diversify my weekly workouts and help breathing. My main issue with yoga in the past has been the phony spiritualism associated with yoga that many trainers are obsessed with.

  4. I’ve done yoga before and I love it. My center closed down a few months ago so I’m without right now and missing it greatly.

That said, I hope to find a new class very soon; I think my gym offers classes, but at an additional charge (womp, womp), but it definitely IS worth it.

While I hadn’t necessarily connected yoga to better sex, but it certainly does make sense. Hey I’m all for that.

i want to do yoga, but as for me i don’t like going by my self and don’t have a friend that will go. think mainly guys don’t do that is cause afraid that they wont be able to do something and other people can. think in their minds people will make fun of them in their minds. at least that’s how i am ๐Ÿ™ and i think theirs still a lot of guys that are high on them self as whats women things stay woman things. like guys getting spa treatments and manicures. they think that will make them less of a man then.

  6. Riding horses, has some of the same benefits, especially endurance XP

Funny you should mention this post – I am about to start a 30 day bikram yoga challenge – for the reasons of weightloss, better flexibility, and to be better in the sack. Plus hot guys in their short shorts sweating for 90 minutes is HOT!

  8. I think men are afraid of trying yoga because its almost like feeling your emotions. And as many men I’m particularly related to, tend to hide their emotions so much they don’t recognize them and almost afraid to feel because it’ll show that they are vulnerable and ‘soft’ and wussy.
And yoga takes you on a journey inside of yourself and to many people there’s nothing more scarier! Which I think is stupid! I love my body. I want to know what is inside of me. (Also literally. I’d love to see my organs. Sorry… Just a fantasy I have. Nothing sexual though)
Also some people think it’s a cult. I see it as an exercise/meditation.
Yoga is amazing, and if you ever get the chance do hot yoga! It’s even more amazing! You start sweating before you even start doing child’s pose. And you sweat for an hour and a half and every toxin in your body is gone! It’s kind of expensive, but a highly recommended thing to do! I think it cost me 20 bucks for a session. But still. Totally worth it.
*also all the above reasons to do yoga is true and if you stop doing it, the side effects of yoga will wear off after a few weeks so keep at it! I have to take it up again…

  9. My mom told me about this but I had the same reservations you listed (older, middle-aged WOMEN). After reading this, plus the fact that I’ve been thinking about it for quite a while, I’ll definitely give it a try. I know I’ll like it.

  10. You are by far my idol ๐Ÿ™‚ I have the P90X, which is extremely intense. I enjoy working out with it every time I can. I wanna try your workouts videos so bad but mainly the yoga, because all this talk about the benefits in bed just sounds exciting, but I also wanna improve a little more on my appearance.

You know I had always wanted the perfect sculted butt. I have been trying to work on my butt for a while but can’t get it athletic looking, idk if it’s because I’m Hispanic or what. Do you have any advice? Ha I feel very awkward for this question. Just show sympathy ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Depends if you want a bigger ass or a more toned ass. Toned ass = running and sprinting. Bigger ass = heavy squats.

      • Well this is exciting, you left me a response. Promise I’m not creepin’. I just think this is pretty cool ๐Ÿ™‚ recently I have been eating ice cream ah! Yum! But it’s only because my friends came back from college for labor day weekend ๐Ÿ™‚ I also had sushi at wangs Asian fusion restaurant with my main sushi buddy. What the!!! This huge moth is banging against my window! It scared the crap out of me. Ha

  11. GIGGITY GIGGITY!

  12. As a 16 year old guy,I want to try yoga but I don’t know where to enroll for yoga classes and if I can afford to pay each session. I think it is the BEST form of exercise for me coz I think it doesn’t requires to much movements in every pose and it will allow me to focus when doing something…

  13. I took one-on-one yoga sessions with a young, good looking, but alas, straight instructor last year. It was a very beneficial experience especially in improving my balance and my mind-body co-ordination during weight training and during ordinary, everyday functions. I tried some classes with the same instructor. Both men and women were in the class. I often found myself pointing in the opposite direction than my classmates but what the hell he always told me that everyone goes at their own speed and ability and that what it looks like doesn’t matter. The real highlight though is the adjustments. The instructor will place his hands on you to assist in achieving the desired pose – adjust your position. This help can be very sensual. Did I mention he was good looking?

  14. I have done yoga for many years, both in classes and on my own. I originally taught myself out of a book. Classes vary with the style of yoga and the teacher. They can be very vigorous and physical or more meditative. You should find the style that suits you. Hatha yoga is the more physical directed of the styles.

  15. I’ve been a yoga devotee for the past 2.5 years and wishing I could devote more time to it (but doing so would take more time away from weights and cardio). Apart from the physical benefits of yoga itself that you’ve already mentioned, the sexual benefits are um, enormous. Ujjayi breath does wonders for relaxing and um, ‘opening’ up. Tone your butt with chair pose and high and low lunges. Binding and all other twisty poses gives new flexibility to regular moves. Inversions let you attempt crazy kama sutra poses and the blood flowing to your head (the other one) gives you new dizzy sensations. One of my yoga teachers is rather distracting with his hotness, though… ๐Ÿ™‚

  18. I have tried it. I LOVE it. I am a gay male and I think that Straight males are scared of LOOKING like they are gay. That’s my thought. ๐Ÿ™‚

  19. I was doing some cat cow, and child’s posing with a partner last week. He LOVED it. Was hot.
